Tropical Parfait

To my eternal disappointment, a lot of food items in NYC look better than they taste.

When you consider the price to taste ratio, the picture gets worse.

Take for instance Red Mango on Allen St in New York City.

As I was walking up Allen St in the Lower East Side the other day, I spotted the Red Mango Yogurt store.

It was a hot afternoon and I surrendered to temptation.

The place was deserted when I walked in with just three staffers wiping and cleaning.

I ordered a Red Mango Tropical Parfait.

Including tax, my bill came to $5.39 which in my cheap lexicon is far too expensive.

The unsmiling lady at the counter looked to be in a grouchy mood but nevertheless allowed me to make some topping substitutions with my Red Mango Tropical Parfait.

Sweet of her.

I opted for Pineapple, Mango, Orange and Almonds toppings (skipped the banana and organic granola).

Tired as I was, I plonked myself on one of the stools and leisurely dug into my Tropical Parfait.

Sure the Red Mango Tropical Parfait had a cooling effect on my hot body.

But it did not appeal to my wallet much and on the whole I did not think I got good value for my money.
